A bomb of mass 1kg initially at rest, break into3 fragments 1:1:3 the two pieces of equal mass fly off perpendicular to each other with speed 15m/s each.the speed of heavier fragment is?

Since the 1 kg bomb exploded into 1:1:3 parts, they weigh 200, 200 and 600 g respectively.

If we look at this vectorially, then...

200×15 i + 200×15 j = 600×v (v is the velocity vector)
3000 i + 3000 j = 600 v
v = 5 i + 5 j = 5(i + j)
Resolving the unit vectors...
v = 5(1²+1²)^½
v = 5 root 2
