A bomb of mass 20 kg initially at rest explodes into three pieces of mass 10 kg, m1 and m2. If the heavier one remains at rest and other move in opposite direction to each other with same speed of 10 m/s. Then find the ratio of m1 to m2.

Answer:
The ratio of m1 : to m2 is 1:1.
Explanation:
Since we know that the bomb is exploded into 3 pieces of 10kg , m1 and m2 respectively so on applying laws of conservation of the momentum we will get that M*u = m1*v1 + m2*v2 + m3*v3 where the value of Mu will be 0 since the heavier one is at rest so that u will be zero.
We, know that the values of velocities v1 and v2 are 10m/s and -10m/s respectively since the two velocities are opposite in direction as given.
So, (m1-m2)10 = 0 so the value will be m1=m2 hence, the ratio will be 1:1.
