A bomb thrown as projectile explodes in mid air. What is the path traced by the centre of mass of the fragments assuming the friction to be negligible

The path is parabolic. It is the same as that of trajectory. Internal force do not effect the motion of the center of mass, the center of mass hits the ground at the position where the original projectile would have landed.
