Solution :-

Given : A book costs Rs 96.

Mahesh bought 60 such books.

Cost of 60 such books = 60 × 96

= Rs 5760

By mistake, the accountant at the store made the bill by taking the cost of each book to be Rs 5 less.

So, Cost of each books = Rs (96 - 5)

= Rs 91

Cost of 60 such books = 60 × 91

= Rs 5460

Now, Difference in this bill from what it should have been :

= Rs (5760 - 5460)

= Rs 300

hello there

Step-by-step explanation:

Question: A book costs Rs. 96 and Mahesh bought 60 such books. By mistake, the accountant at the store made the bill by taking the cost of each book to be Rs. 5 less. What is the difference in this bill from what it should have been?

Solution:

Given:

Cost of one book = Rs 96

No. of Total books bought by Mahesh = 60

So, The cost price of 60 books will be = (60 × 96)Rs

i.e, = 5760 Rs

Also,

Unknowingly , the accountant considered the Cost price of each book = 96 - 5 = 91 Rs

So,

According to the accountant The cost of 1 book will be = 91 Rs

So, The total cost price (bill) made by the accountant of 60 books will be = (91× 60) Rs

i.e, = 5460 Rs

Therefore :

Difference in the bill will be = Original bill - Bill made by the accountant

Putting the values to get the difference :

Difference= (5760 - 5460)Rs

Difference = 300 Rs

_______________________________

So, the difference which occurred between the original bill and the bill made by the accountant = 300 Rs
