A book is 5 cm thick and each cover is 1.5 mm thick. How thick is the book without its covers?

so 1.5 +1.5 =3 mm

so 10 mm = 1 cm

convert 5 cm to mm as 5 * 10 = 50 mm

50-3 = 47 mm or 4.7 cm
