A book rests on a table. A small horizontal force of 2N is applied on it but it does not move. What is the reason for this? What is the magnitude of this force?​

the book is not moving because a opposition force namely frictional force is acting in the opposite direction of the applied force . this force balances the applied force and book remains at rest.

the magnitude of this force is equal to magnitude of applied force that is 2N .
