A book with a mass of 3kg is sliding across the table at a rate of 2m/s. How much force is required to keep it moving at this speed? Why?

Force = Mass x Acceleration = 3 x 2 = 6N

You need 6N for this block to be going at this velocity and with this speed. If there's a less force with which it is pushed, it will only move for a considerable distance.
