A bookshop had 12000 books. In the first week, it sold 15% of the books, and in the second week, it sold 15% less. How many books did it sell in the second week? Also find the number of books left in the book shop after the second week.

Step-by-step explanation:

Total no. of books = 12000

No. of books sold in the first week = 15% of 12000 = 1800

No. of books sold in seconds week = 15% of 1800 = 1530

Therefore no. of books left out in the book store = 12000 - (1800 + 1530) = 12000 - 3330 = 8670

saptarshisaha2007: sorry, the past answer is wrong. It will be 8670, not 8780.
sandesh9785: hey thanks for rectifying it
sandesh9785: i have gone wrong in adding up the values:)
NamishH2340R: No it will be 8780 only
NamishH2340R: You should check again
sandesh9785: yes its 8780 only
saptarshisaha2007: no
sandesh9785: I have gone wrong while adding up

Answer:

the number of weeks sold in the second week is 1530 books and the number of left out book is no of book sold in first week + the no of books in second week and subtract it from 12000 and the answer comes out to be 8670 books..

NamishH2340R: on calculator or on your phone
NamishH2340R: That what is 12000 - 3220
saptarshisaha2007: no
saptarshisaha2007: 1800 + 1530 = 3330
NamishH2340R: did you calculate
saptarshisaha2007: not 3220
saptarshisaha2007: you wrote that 1800 + 1530 = 3220, which is wrong
saptarshisaha2007: 1800 + 1530 = 3330
saptarshisaha2007: check what you wrote
saptarshisaha2007: did you understand ?
