A borrows 1000Rs from B and looses it, he again borrows 500rs from C. He spends 300rs and divides the remaining balance of 200rs and give B and C. A has to give 900 to B and 400 to C i.e, 1300rs. If he spent 300rs it must have been 1600rs that he had at first but he had only 1500. How did he get 100rs extra?

A borrows 1000 from B
Income of A = 1000
He lost 1000
Expense of A = 1000
Balance of A = 1000-1000 = 0

A borrows 500 from C
Income of A = 0 + 500 = 500
He spends 300
Expense = 300
Balance = 500-300 = 200
Now he divides 200 into two parts and gives each part to B and C
Thus he gives 100 each to B and C
Balance of A = 200 - 100 - 100 = 0

A's total income was: 1000 + 500 = 1500
Expense 1 = 1000
Expense 2 = 300
Expense 3 = 100 + 100
Total expense = 1500

He owes B 1000 and C 500
Since he gave 100 each to B and C,
Now he owes: 900 to B and 400 to C

Now coming to the question:
He originally had only 1500
He owed this amount to B and C
After his expense, the remaining (200) was given back to B and C
Which means,now he owe: 1500 - 200 = 1300 Rs.
This 1300 includes (1000 he lost and 300 he spent)

Conclusion:
He had only 1500 in all. He spent 1300 from it. Remaining 200 was given back to those from whom he borrowed. So he owe only what he spent, that is, 1300 Rs. He never had 100 Rs. extra
