Because it is. By a laaaarge margin.

Gravity is super, super weak. The only reason it works in the scale of planets is because they are indeed planets, with huge masses to produce a lot of force.

Proof? Magnets. A single little magnet can beat the gravitational force of the whole planet. Place a little piece of metal on the ground, use a little magnet and bam! Gravity loses.

But really, on our local, human everyday life scale, the gravitational force of random objects is completely negligible. And definitely way weaker than the friction of the resting surface.
