(a) Total no. of marbles=3+2+4=9

(1) No. of white marbles=2

∴ probability of getting a white marble=

9

2

(2) No. of blue marbles=3

∴ probability of getting a blue marble=

9

3

=

3

(3) No. of red marbles=4

∴ probability of getting a red marble=

9

4

(b)Since, Total no. of balls = 5+8+7=20

(1) No. of balls that are white or green = 8+7=15

∴ probability of getting a white or green ball =

20

15

=

4

3

(2) No. of balls that are neither green nor red =7

∴ probability of getting a ball that are neither green nor red =

20

Black marbles = 5

Blue marbles = 3

Purple marbles = 2

Total marbles = 5 + 3 + 2 = 10

P(purple) =  \frac{Number of purple marbles}{Total marbles}

=  \frac{2}{10}

=  \frac{1}{5}
