A bought a computer and sold it to B later at a loss of 20%. If A had bought the computer for 10% lesser, the loss would have been rs 500 lesser. How much did A buy it for?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, A bought the computer at Rs.100x .

so,

→ SP of A to B = 20% less = 80% of 100x = (80 * 100x)/100 = Rs.80x

now,

→ A bought at 10% less = 90% of 100x = (90 * 100x)/100 = Rs.90x

and,

→ Loss now = CP - SP = 90x - 80x = Rs.10x

A/q,

→ 10x = 500

→ x = 50

therefore,

→ A bought the computer at = 100x = 100 * 50 = Rs.5000 (Ans.)
