Question :–

A bowler throws a cricket ball at a speed of 36km/hr. How long does this ball take to travel a distance of 20 metres to reach the batsman?

Given :–

  • A bowler throws a cricket ball at a speed of 36km/hr.

To Find :–

  • How long does this ball
  • take to travel a distance of 20 metres to reach the batsman?

Solution :–

First, change km into m.

36 \times  \frac{ \cancel{10} \cancel{00}}{ \cancel{36} \cancel{00}}

 \cancel{36} \times  \frac{5}{ \cancel{18} }

2 \times 5

10 \: m/s

Now,

Time taken to travel 20m in the speed of 10m/s.

 \frac{ \cancel{20}}{ \cancel{10} }

 \boxed{\tt\orange{2 \: sec}}

Time = 2 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • A bowler throws a ball at a speed of 36 km/hr.
  • The distance to be covered by ball is 20 m.

To Find:

  • How much time ball will take to reach 20 m?

Solution: Changing the km/hr to m/s.

➟ To change into km/h to m/s , multiply with 5/18.

[ Speed of ball in m/s ]

➟ 36(5/18)

➟ 2(5)

➟ 10 m/s.

As we know that

Distance = Speed \times Time

\implies{\rm } 20 = 10 \times t

\implies{\rm } 20 = 10t

\implies{\rm } 20/10 = t

\implies{\rm } 2 = t

Hence, ball will take 2 seconds to reach the batsman.
