It has given that, a ball of mass , m = 0.15 kg projects in upward direction. if ball displaced along bowling machine 0.2 m and released. after the released from the bowling machine ball attains 20 m height.

To find : The force exerted by bowling machine on the ball.

solution : from Work energy theorem,

workdone by the machine on the ball = potential energy gained by ball

force applied by the machine × displacement of ball along machine = weight of ball × total displacement covered by ball

⇒F × 0.2 m = mg × (20 + 0.2)

⇒F × 0.2 = 0.15 × 10 m/s² × 20.2

⇒F = 1.5 × 20.2/0.2 = 1.5 × 101 = 151.5 N

Therefore the force exerted by the bowling machine is 151.5 N
