a box consists of 100 shirts of which 88 are good , 8 have minor defect , and 4 have major defects . Ramesh a shopkeeper will buy only those shirts which are good but kewal another shopkeeper will not buy shirts with major defects . a shirt is taken out of box at random . what is probability that ,
1) ramesh will buy the selected shirt ?
2) kewal will buy the selected shirt ??

1) probability = 88/100 = 0.88

2) probability = 100-4/100 = 96/100=0.96

Ans1) Since ramesh wants only good shirts so,
Probability of ramesh buying the selected shirt is :
88(good shirts)/100(total shirts)
=0.88
Ans2) While since kewal won't buy only thr shirts having any major defect so his probability of buying the selected shirt is :
88(good shirts)+8(shirts with minor defects)/100(total shirts)
=>96/100
=0.96
