Answer:

A box contains 2 blue, 4 red, 5 green and 1 yellow caps. What is the probability that at least one cap is red when 2 caps are randomly picked? Possible ways of drawing 2 caps = 12c2. Probability that atleast one cap is red =probability of drawing 1 red cap with any other cap + probability of drawing 2 red caps.

Answer:

0.5758

Given:-

No. of blue caps = 2

No. of red caps = 4

No. of green caps = 5

No. of yellow caps = 1

To Find:-

If two caps are picked at random then what is the probability that atleast one is red?

Solution:-

Total no. of caps = 12.

✠ First time you pick a cap,

there are (2 + 4 + 5 + 1) = 12 choices,

✠ Second time you pick a cap,

there are (12 - 1) 11 choices

⍟ So, the total possible combination is (12 × 11) = 132 choices by multiple principal.

★ The possible combination that there are not red caps in your two choices

is (12 - 4) × (11 - 4) = 8 × 7 = 56,

⍟ So,

\star \;\sf \purple{Probability}_{( at\;least\;one\;is\;red)} ={(132 - 56)}{132}⋆Probability

(at least one is red) =(132−56)

= 0.5758
