A box contained green and yellow beads 4/5 of the green beads and 3/4 of the yellow beads were used to make a purse. If 15 beads of each color were left, what fraction of the beads in the box were used to make the purse?​

Green beads used=4/5x

Remaining=1 - 4/5x=1/5x

Let the total no.of yellow beads be y

Yellow beads used=3/4y

Remaining=1 - 3/4y=1/4 y

According to the problem,

1/5x=15  and

1/4y =15

Solving them

x=75 and y=60

Therefore no.of beads used= 4/5 x 75  +  3/4 x 60

                                                =60 + 45

                                               =105

 fraction of beads used=105/135=21/27=7/9(Ans.)
