a box containing 42 blue pens and 22black pens. a student want to buy a blue pen. he picks up a pen at random and found it to be black pen holding in one Hand he picks up another pen and random without looking inside the box. what is the probability that second pen is blue pen? ​

given,

no. of blue pens n(blue) = 42

no. of black pens n(black) = 22

if one is picked i.e. black and kept aside then,

no. of black pens = 21

total No. of pens = 42+21 = 63

probability that the pen is blue P(blue) = n(blue)/n(total)

p(blue) = 42/63 = 6/9 = 2/3

so the probability othat the pen is blue is 2/3
