To find, the probability the number is divisible by 4 = ?

Solution:

Total number of possible outcomes = 125

Let E be the event of getting a number is divisible by 4.

The favourable outcomes are:

4, 8, 12, ........, 124

Total number of terms = \dfrac{124-4}{4} +1

= \dfrac{120}{4} +1

= 30 + 1

= 31

Number of favourable outcomes = 31

∴ Probability, P(E) = \dfrac{Number of favourable outcomes }{Total number of possible outcomes}

= \dfrac{31 }{125}

Hence, P(E) = \dfrac{31 }{125}
