Given :
A box contains 2 blue caps, 4 red caps, 5 green caps and 1 yellow cap
Total Number of caps=2+4+5+1= 12

To Find :
probability that it is either blue or yellow

Total number of  outcomes=n(s)= 12c1=12
Favorable number of outcomes=n(E)=out of(2blue + 1 yellow ) any one =3c1=3

Probability of finding either blue or yellow:
= Number of Favorable outcome/Total outcomes
=3/12
=1/4

Therefore the probability of finding either blue or yellow is 1/4

Solution:

Given :
No.of blue caps= 2

No.of red caps= 4

No.of green caps=5

No.of yellow caps= 1

Total Number of caps=2+4+5+1= 12

Total number of outcomes=n(s)= 12c1=12

Favorable number of outcomes=n(E)=Out of (2 blue + 1 yellow) caps, number of ways to pick one cap n(E) = 3C1 = 3

Probability( either blue or yellow)
= Number of Favorable outcome/Total number of outcomes
=3/12
=1/4

Hence, the probability that it is either blue or yellow is 1/4
