A box contains 6 nails and 10 nuts. half of the nails and half of the nuts are rusted. if one item is chosen at random, what is the probability that it is rusted or is a nail

total no. of favourable outcomes=16
thus ,
p(that the item is rusted)=8/16=1/2
p(that the item is nail)=6/18=1/3

Hlo friend total no. Of items=16 total rusted items=3+5=8 probablity of getting rusted item =8/16=1/2 ......... In 2nd case total no. Of nail =6 probability of getting nail=6/16= if we want both rusted nail then probability =3/16 i hope this will help you
