SOLUTION:-

  • TOTAL SCREWS= 600

  • RUSTED SCREWS ARE ONE TENTH OF IT =
  • 1 \div 10 \times 600 = 60
  • GOOD SCREWS= (600-60)=540

  • PROBABILITY (GOOD SCREW)=
  • 540 \div 600 =
  • 9/10(ANSWER)

DETAILED ANSWER:-

  • Probability is the branch of mathematics concerning numerical descriptions of how likely an event is to occur, or how likely it is that a proposition is true. The probability of an event is a number between 0 and 1, where, roughly speaking, 0 indicates impossibility of the event and 1 indicates certainty

  • How to calculate probability

  • Determine a single event with a single outcome.

  • Identify the total number of outcomes that can occur.

  • Divide the number of events by the number of possible outcomes.

Question :

A box contains 600 screws , one tenth of them are rusted . One screw is taken out of a random from this box. Find the probability that it is a good one

To find :

the probability that it is a good screw

Solution :

Total no of screws = 600

 \sf \small no \: of \: screws \: rusted =  \frac{1}{10}

 \frac{1}{10}  \times 600

60

Therefore 60 screws got rusted

No of good screws → Total screws – Rusted Screw

→ 600 – 60

→ 540

No of good screws is 540

 \sf \small Probability  \: of \:  getting  \: one \: good \:  screw  =  \frac{no. \: of \: good \: screws}{total \: no \: of \: screws}

 \sf \small \: Probability  =  \frac{540}{600}

 \sf \small \therefore \: the \: probability \: is \:  \frac{9}{10}
