Given:

First quantity of grapes = 2kg

Second quantity = 0.5kg

To Find:

Kilograms of grapes are in the basket

Solution:

Let the number of grapes in the box = x

Let the number of grapes in the basket = y.

Thus, weight of the grapes in the box is x kg and the basket is y kg.

Since twice more grapes were added to the basket , therefore -

x = 2y

Hence. now the weight of basket = y +2

ATQ, after 2 kgs were added to the basket it contained 0.5kgs more than the box. Thus,

y + 2 = x + 0.5

Substituting the vale of x = 2y

y + 2 = 2y + 0.5

y - 2y = 0.5 - 2

-y = -1.5

y = 1.5

Answer: There are 1.5 kgs of grapes in the basket.
