Answer:-

Given:-

  • Dimensions of the box = 4m × 5m × 6m
  • Force exerted = 100 N

To Find:-

  • Maximum and Minimum pressure exerted on box.

Basico Concepto:-

  • Increased contact area decreases the pressure.

Ex - If we sit on sand, we won't feel that we are sinking in it.

  • Decreased contact area increases pressure.

Ex - If we run on sand, our foot will somewhat sink in it.

Or,

Pressure 1/Contact Area

Minimum Pressure:-

Dimensions to be taken = 5m × 6m

We know,

P = T/A

where,

  • P = Pressure,
  • T = Thrust &
  • A = Area.

So,

➤ P = (100 N)/(6 × 5m²)

➵ P = (100 N)/(30 m²)

➵ P = 10/3 N m^-2

➵ P ≈ 3.33 N m^-2 ...(Minimum Pressure)

Maximum:-

Dimensions to be taken = 4m × 5m

We know,

P = T/A

where,

  • P = Pressure,
  • T = Thrust &
  • A = Area

So,

➤ P = (100 N)/(4 × 5m²)

➵ P = (100 N)/(20 m²)

➵ P = (10 N)/(2 m²)

➵ P = 5 N m^-2 ...(Maximum Pressure)
