Cost price of mangoes= Rs.300
Selling price of mangoes= Rs.255

Loss= Cost price-Selling price

=300-255

=Rs.45

Loss percent= Loss/Cost price×100

=45/300×100

=15%

Answer: The lost percent was 15%.

Hope it helps! :)

The percentage of loss = 15%

Given :

A box of mangoes was purchased by a fruit seller for Rs. 300 however he had to sell them for Rs. 255 because they begin to get over ripen

To find :

The percentage of loss

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Write down Cost price and Selling price

Cost price = Rs. 300

Selling price = Rs. 255

Step 2 of 3 :

Calculate amount of loss

Now 300 > 255

∴ Cost price > Selling price

So there is loss

Loss amount

= Cost price - Selling price

= Rs. 300 - Rs. 255

= Rs. 45

Step 3 of 3 :

Calculate loss percentage

Hence the required loss percentage

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{45}{300}  \times 100 \% }

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{3}{20}  \times 100 \% }

\displaystyle \sf{ = 15 \% }
