Total no. Of marbles= x Marbles Michael got=2x/5 Remaining marbles =x-2x/5=3x/5 Remaining marbles shared in the ratio=5:4 Let the remaining marbles be y Then,  (5+4)y=3x/5 9y=3x/5 y=3x/5*9=x/15 Marbles Samuel git=5y=5*x/15=x/3 Marbles royston got=5y=5*x/15=4x/15 Given, Michael got 118 marbles more than royston  So,  2x/5=4x/15 + 118 Now, 2x/5 - 4x/15=118 6x-4x/15=118 2x/15=118 2x=118*15 x=118*15/2=885
