A box of mass 40 kg kept on a floor .Sanjay is trying to push it from left and Harish is trying to
push it from right .force exerted by them are 25N and 35N respectively. However box remains
stationary on floor .find the force of friction acting on the box.

Let the direction of force towards right is taken as positive

The forces acting on it

By Sanjay = 25 N

By Harish = -35 N

net force = 25 - 35 = -10 N

The box will move towards left with acceleration 0.25 m/s, if no friction is acting on it.

But the box is stationary

net force = 0

Force of friction = 10N (towards right)
