A box of mass 70 kg is pulled by a horizontal force of 500 N on the surface of the floor. When the box moves, the coefficient of friction between the floor and the box is 0.50. Calculate the acceleration of box?

Answer:

a = 2.24m/s^2

Explanation:

mass (m ) = 70 kg

Force (F) = 500N

coefficient of friction (u) = 0.50

Now applying formula ,

f = u R { where f = friction, u = coefficient of friction and R is normal force }

we have to calculate friction therefore

f = 0.50 * mg { R which is normal force always act upwards so equal and opposite force will react downwards which is equal to weight of body = mg therefore we write R = mg }

f = 0.50 * 70 * 9.8

f = 343 N

now we have to calculate a

net force acting on the body

F - f = ma { f is negative because it is opposing the motion }

500 - 343 = 70a

157 = 70a

a = 2.24m/s^ 2

IT MIGHT SEEMS LENGTHY BUT I HAVE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING IN IT

PLEASE VOTE IT

HOPE IT HELPS
