The tank is in the shape of a cuboid.

To find the area of the metal sheet required, we need to calculate the surface area of the cuboidal tank and subtract the area of the roof as it is an open tank.

Total surface area of a cuboid of

length l, breadth b and height h =2(l×b+b×h+l×h)

So, the total surface area of the cuboid with length =10m,

breadth =7.5m and height =3.8m=2(10×7.5+7.5×3.8+3.8×10)=2(75+28.5+38)=283m2

Area of the roof =10×7.5=75m2

Hence. area of the metal sheet required to make the open tank =283−75=208m2
