Capacity of the box = 192000 cm³

Weight of the box = 210.9744 kg

Step-by-step explanation:

The internal dimensions of the steel box are 80 cm by 60 cm by 40 cm.

Therefore, the capacity of the box will be = (80 × 60 × 40) = 192000 cubic cm.

Now, the box is 1 cm thick in all sides and so the outer dimensions of the steel box will be 82 cm by 62 cm by 42 cm.

Hence, the volume of steel in the box will be = [(82 × 62 × 42) - 192000] cm³

= [213528 - 192000] cm³

= 21528 cm³.

Now, if 1 cm³ of steel weighs 9.8 gm, then the weight of the steel box will be

= 21528 × 9.8

= 210974.4 gm

= 210.9744 kg. (Answer)
