SOLUTION:-

Given:

A boy covers a distance of 25km in 3 hours, partly on foot at the rate of 5km/hr. & partly on a bicycle at the rate of 10km/hr.

To find:

The distance cover on foot.

Explanation:

Assume the distance cover on the foot be R km.

So,

The distance covered on bicycle= (25-R) Km.

•Speed on foot = 5km/hr.

•Speed on bicycle= 10km/hr.

Therefore,

We know that, time= Distance/speed.

So,

•Time taken on foot = (R/5) hrs.

•Time taken on bicycle= (25-R/10) hrs.

Now,

According to the question:

 =  >  \frac{R}{5}  + \frac{25 - R}{10}   = 3 \\  \\  =  >  \frac{2R+ 25 - R}{10}  = 3 \\  \\  =  > 2R+ 25 - R = 30 \\  \\  =  > 2R- R = 30 - 25 \\  \\  =  > R = 5km

Thus,

The distance covered on foot = 5km.

Answer →

Distance covered by foot will be 5 km

Solution →

Total distance = 25 km

Total time taken = 3 hrs

Speed by foot = 5 km/ hr

Speed by bicycle = 10 km/ hr

Time = distance/speed

Let distance covered by Foot as x km

So time taken to cover x km =

 =  >  \frac{x}{5}  hrs \\

Then distance covered by bicycle = 25-x km

Time taken = \frac{25-x}{10}

Total time taken →

 \frac{x}{5}  +  \frac{25 - x}{10}  = 3 \\

 \frac{2x + 25 - x}{10}  = 3 \\

25 - x = 30

x. = 30 - 25

x. = 5 km

Hence distance travelled by foot is 5km .

hope it helps
