9% w/v means 9 grams glucose per 100 ml of solution.

9 g/100 ml x 500 ml = 45 g glucose in the 500 ml consumed

molar mass of glucose = 180 g/mole

moles of glucose consumed = 45 g x 1 mole/180 g = 0.25 moles glucose consumed

molecules of glucose consumed = 0.25 moles x 6.02x1023 molecules/mole = 1.5x1023 molecules consumed
