y - 2x = 1 & 5y - x = 14

a) Here the line is

y - 2x = 1

Since the line cuts x axis

So y = 0

Thus we get

- 2x = 1

⇒ x = - 0.5

Hence the required point is ( - 0.5, 0)

b) Here the line is

y - 2x = 1

Since the line cuts y axis

So x = 0

Thus we get

y = 1

Hence the required point is ( - 0, 1)

(c) Here the line is

5y - x = 14

Since the line cuts x axis

So y = 0

Thus we get

- x = 14

⇒ x = - 14

Hence the required point is ( - 14, 0)

(d) Here the line is

5y - x = 14

Since the line cuts y axis

So x = 0

Thus we get

5y = 14

⇒ y = 2.8

Hence the required point is (0,2.8)

(e) Here the equation of the line parallel to x axis is y = c

Since it is at a distance of 5 unit

So c = 5

Hence the required equation of the line is
