A boy goes 5m towards east, 4m towards north and 2m towards west. calculate the distance and displacement covered by him.

The distance covered by the boy = 5 m + 4 m + 2 m = 11 m
The displacement covered by the boy =  \sqrt{3^{2}+4^{2}  }
                                                                 = 5 m
