A boy has left with 47 paise only after giving 80% of his pocket money
to a friend and 6% of the rest to his another friend. What is the pocket
money of the boy initially. (in Rupee) ?

Solution :

Let us assume that the initial pocket money of the boy is x paisa .

He first gives 80% of his pocket money to a friend.

The amount of money he is left with :

> 20% of x.

From this, he further gives 6% of it to another friend.

Remaining amount of money left with him :

> 94% of 20% of x

Now, this is equal to 47 paisa .

> 94% of  20% of x = 47

> 94/100 * 1/5 x = 47

> 2/100 * 1/5 x = 1

> 1/50 * 1/5 x = 1

> x = 250 paisa

> x  = 2.5 rupees.

This is the required answer.
