Amount of toffees left with him=x-1/3×x= 2x/3

He gives half of it to his brother

So he gives his brother=1/2 of 2x/3

Amount of toffees he has with him now=x/3

Amount of toffees he has with him=20 toffees.

So, x/3=20

=60 toffees.

Thus, he had 60 toffees with him in the beginning.
