Answer:

distance, xand 4-x

x/3+(4-x)/5=1,5x+3(4-x) = I5

5x +12-3x=I5

2x = 3

x = 3/2=1 1/2 Km

walked for 1 1/2 km

Given :

Distance covered to catch a bus = 4 km

Speed of walking = 3 km/hr

Speed of running = 5 km/hr

Total time taken = 1 hour

To find : Distance he walk = ?

Solution:

Distance covered by walking = x

Distance covered by running = 4-x

According to question, we get:

\dfrac{x}{3}+\dfrac{4-x}{5}=1\\\\\dfrac{5x+3(4-x)}{15}=1\\\\5x+12-3x=15\\\\2x+12=15\\\\2x=15-12\\\\2x=3\\\\x=\dfrac{3}{2}=1.5\ km

Hence, he walk 1.5 km.
