A boy having the mass 40 kg, running from left to right at a speed of 5m/s, catches the ball of mass 200 gm coming from right to left at a speed of 10m/s After taking the catch, calculate the speed of boy with the ball in hand.

I think it is :

m1 = 40kg, m2 = 0.2kg, v1 = 5m/s, v2 = 10m/s , v = the new velocity;

Now,

m1v1  + m2v2 = (m1 + m2 ) v

40 * 5 +  0.2 * 10 =  ( 40 + 0.2 ) v

200 + 2 =  (40.2)v

202/40.2 = v

v = 5.0249  ( Its not the full value )
