Step-by-step explanation:

Let the boy's age be x

then father's age would be x+26

age of boy after three years = x+3

and age of father after three years = x+29

A/Q. after three years boy's age would be 1/3 of his father's

so,. x+3 = x+29/3

3x+9 = x+29

2x = 20

x= 10

Hence boy's age would be 10 years

Answer:

The boy is presently 10 years old.

Step-by-step explanation:

Gívєn -

Boy is = 26 years younger than is father

In 3 years ,his age will be = \dfrac{1}{3} of his father's age.

Tσ fínd -

The boy's present age

Sσlutíσn -

Let the ages be -

  • Father as x
  • Son as (x - 26)

\rule{300}{1.5}

After 3 Years =

  • Father will be (x + 3)
  • Son will be (x - 26) + 3

\rule{300}{1.5}

According to the Question -

After 3 Years boy's age will be 1/3 of his father's age .

\bf{\implies} \: (x - 26) + 3 =  \dfrac{1}{3} \: of \: (x + 3)

\sf{\implies} \: x - 26 + 3 =  \dfrac{1}{3} \:  \times  \: x + 3 \\\sf{\implies} \: x - 23=  \dfrac{x}{3} \:  +  3  \\ \sf{\implies} \: 3(x - 23)= x + 3 \\ \sf{\implies} \: 3x - 69= x + 3 \\\sf{\implies} \: 3x -x = 3 + 69 \\ \sf{\implies} \:2x =72 \\ \sf{\implies}  \: x =  \frac{72}{2} \\ \sf{\implies} \:x = 36

Father's present age = 36

\rule{300}{1.5}

Son's present age =

\sf{\implies} \:(x - 26) \\ \sf{\implies} \:36 - 26 \\ \sf{\implies} \:10

Son's present age = 10 Years

\therefore The boy is presently 10 years old.
