A boy is running on a straight road.He runs 500m towards north in 2minutes 10seconds and then turns back and runs 200m in 1.00 minute.Calculate his speed and velocity during first 2minutes 10seconds and his speed and velocity during the whole journey.

In the first 2min 10s the boy is travelling along a straight path. This means that distance will be equal to distance and thus average speed = average velocity.

so,

average speed = distance travelled / time taken

= 500m / 130s

thus,

average speed = average velocity = 3.85 m/s

hope it helps):-
