a boy is sitting on a horizontal platform in the shape of a disc at a distance of 5m from its centre. The boy begins to slip when the speed of the wheel exceeds 10rpm.The coefficient of friction between the boy and the platform is (g=10m/s²)

Answer:

First of all calculate the angular velocity i.e w=2πf and w will be π/3 and if w will exceed this ang. velocity the boy will begin to slip that means for boy to be at rest centripetal force must be equal to frictional force between boy and disc.

Mrw^2=coeff. of friction×Normal reaction

mrw^2=coeff. of friction ×mg

rw^2=coeff. of friction ×g

5(π/3)^2=coeff. of friction.g

coeff. of friction =π^2/18
