ANSWER (1) : Answer in meters per minutes:

Time spent on the journey:

8.45 am to 9.20 am = 35 mins

Find the speed:

Distance = 1.25 km = 1250 m

Speed = Distance ÷ Time

Speed = 1250 ÷ 35 = 35.7 m/mins

Answer: The average speed is 35.7m/min

ANSWER (2) : Answer in km per hour

Time spent on the journey:

8.45 am to 9.20 am = 35 mins

35 mins = 35/60 = 7/12 hour

Find the speed:

Distance = 1.25 km (Given)

Speed = Distance ÷ Time

Speed = 1.25 ÷ 7/12 = 2.14 km/h

Answer: The average speed is 2.14 km/h

Rounak642: Wrong answer answer is 2.14
TooFree: if the answer is 2.14 .. it is because it is in in km/h ... the question did not state the units. My answer is in metre per minutes
Rounak642: yes in km/h
Rounak642: so you re solve this question
TooFree: I have provided an alternative answer in km/h below my current answer.
Rounak642: so please solve it
TooFree: already done
Rounak642: so please do my next question

When does he leave the house ? = 8 : 45

When does he arrive ? = 9 : 20

The difference = 35 minutes

The distance from his house to school - 1.25 km

Let us convert the 35 minutes to hours.. A speed formula shall always be

meters / seconds ( or ) kilometers / hour

35 min into hours

= 35 / 60

= 7 / 12 hours

Distance = 1.25 km

Average speed = total distance / total time

total distance = 1.25 km

total time = 7 / 12 hours

Average speed = ( 1.25 ) ÷ ( 7 / 12 )

1.25 × ( 12 / 7 )

2.14 kilometers per hour
