he should walk at the same speed..
the time take to cover first 1 KM = 1/3
the distance has to be covered in 30 mins and he already took 1/3 that is 10 mins. And in the remaining 20 minutes he has to walk the remaing distance of 1 km.
So speed = 1/20/60 = 3 km/h answe.

distance/speed=time
time to reach 1km=1/3
time to remain distance=0.5h-1/3h
=0.167
Required speed= 1*0.167
=0.167km/h
time to reach 1km=1/3
time to remain distance=0.5h-1/3h

Required speed= 1*0.167
