As per the question, a boy moves 3 m towards east.

Hence, the distance travelled by the boy towards east is 3 m.

After moving towards east, the boy is heading towards north.

The distance travelled by boy towards north is 4 m.

We are asked to calculate the total distance travelled by the boy.

We know that distance is a scalar quantity. Hence, the net distance is simply the algebraic addition of individual distance travelled by the boy.

Hence, the total distance travelled by the boy will be = 3m+4m

                                                                                         = 7m.   [ans]
