A boy moves 3m towards east after he turns and moves 4m towards north find the displacement of the boy

Displacement is the length of shortest path between initial and final position. It is  a vector so the direction should also be mentioned.

If you draw the diagram, according to pythagoras' theorem, the displacement will be   \sqrt{ 3^{2} + 4^{2} } = 5m

And the direction is north-east.
