A boy moves along the path ABCD. What is the total distance covered by the boy? What is his net displacement? 50 m D B C A 20

Let us assume this path to be a rectangle ABCD.

AB=CD=50 m BC=DA=20 m T

otal distance is the total distance actually covered by him.

So Total Distance = 50+20+50+ 20

 Total Distance = 140m

Net displacement is the distance between the initial and the final position.

Since in this case the initial and final position is the same, the displacement is zero.
