a boy pulls a toy a car with a force of 5N by a string which makes an angle of30 degree with the horizontal in order to move the toy by a distance of 2 m in horizontal direction if the string were inclined at an angle o f 60 degree with horizontal how much pull will be applied along the string in order to move it through the same distance of 2m

The Force vector is making a angle of ∅ with the horizontal. Therefore, the horizontal component of the Force vector will be Fcos∅.

Let, the work done in both the cases be same.

So, F1 × s1 = F2 × s²

F1cos30° = F2cos60° (s1= s2)

F1 × (√3)/2 = F2 × ½

F1 × √3 = F2

5√3 = F2

Hence, the force required is 5√3N
