A boy pushes a box 2 metres along a smooth surface. He then pushes the box 2 metres along a rough surface. In which situation will more work be required? Why?

It is easy to push a box easy on Smooth surface then rough surface.So rough suface required more energy than smooth surface

Hey MATE!
Pushing the box along a smooth requires less work as no friction acts between the ground and bottom of the box.
But in case the surface is rough then more work is required as while moving the object in forward direction the friction force acts in backward direction which makes it difficult to move the box.
