he read 3/8 in 1st day
so remaining book=1-3/8=5/8
now he read 4/5 of remainder on another day =4/5(5/8)=4/8=1/2
so part of book he read in 2 days= 3/8+1/2=7/8
remaining book=1-7/8=1/8
according to question 1/8=30
so total no of pages =30*8=240pages Answer

Answer:

Let the total pages be 'x' in number.

According to condition 1:

3/8*x read on first day.

So remaining pages will be :

1-3/8*x

=5/8*x

According to condition 2:

Read 4/5 of remaining

So left unread =1/5 of remaining

Therefore remaining at last=1/5 * 5/8*x

=1/8x

Unread=30

Therefore:1/8*x = 30

>> X=240.

Therefore total page is240
