he read 1/3 of the remaining so he is left with 1 - 1/3 = 2/3

and still 100 pages left

let total pages be x

2/3 of 3/4 of x = 100

2/3 * 3/4 * x = 100

x = 100 * 4/3 * 3/2

x = 1200/6

x = 200

total pages 200

in first 2 days he read 200 - 100 = 100 pages

% pages he read in first 2 days = 100/200 * 100 = 50% = 50/100 = 1/2
